ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE: Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder named for German physician Alois Alzheimer, who first described it in 1906. Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life.
NANOTECHNOLOGY: NanoTechnology involves research to discover new behaviors and properties of materials with dimensions at the nanoscale which ranges roughly from 1 to 100 nanometers(nm). Nanotechnology is the way discoveries made at the nanoscale are put to work. Nanotechnology is more than throwing together a batch of nanoscale materials—it requires the ability to manipulate and control those materials in a useful way.
CHANDRAYAAN Chandrayaan-1 is a scientific investigation – by spacecraft – of the Moon. The name Chandrayaan means “Chandra- Moon , Yaan-vehicle”, –in Indian languages (Sanskrit and Hindi) , – the lunar spacecraft. Chandrayaan-1 is the first Indian planetary science and exploration mission.
LASER: The word laser is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.A laser is a device that creates and amplifies a narrow, intense beam of coherent light.
BIODESEL: Biodiesel refers to a non-petroleum-based diesel fuel consisting of short chain alkyl (methyl or ethyl) esters, made by transesterification of vegetable oil, which can be used (alone, or blended with conventional petrodiesel) in unmodified diesel-engine vehicles.
ISRO: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is in charge of India's space programme. Objectives of the space programme include development of satellites, launch vehicles, and associated ground systems.
It is headquartered in Bangalore. Its main launch facility is at Sriharikota, which lies near the 13° N latitude. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) formed under Department of Atomic Energy (August 15, 1969).It was then brought under Department of Space(DOS).
MONAZITE: The mineral monazite is a reddish-brown phosphate containing rare earth metals and an important source of thorium, lanthanum, and cerium. It occurs usually in small isolated crystals.Monazite is an important ore for thorium, lanthanum, and cerium. It is often found in placer deposits. The deposits in India are particularly rich in monazite.
GENERAL PACKET RADIO SERVICE (GPRS) P - 74 ● GPRS is an efficient use of limited bandwidth and is particularly suited for sending and receiving data and Web browsing. ● Multiple users share the same transmission channel in GPRS. ● Packet-switched data under GPRS is achieved by allocating unused cell bandwidth to transmit data.
